Tifa Lockheart Cosplay at the Playground

Final Fantasy VII was one of the first majorly epic games to grace home consoles. Previous installments of the Final Fantasy series were released on the Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System, but FFVII was the first in the series to jump ship to the Sony PlayStation platform; a startup system in the video game industry. The game shipped on 3 discs and contained hours of game play and breath taking CGI cut scenes; a relatively new convention for home consoles. The game tells the engaging tale of protagonist Cloud Strife, and the rebel organization AVALANCHE's quest to stop the world-controlling megacorporation Shinra, which is draining the life of the planet for use as an energy source. As the story progresses, Cloud and his allies become involved in a larger world-threatening conflict and face Sephiroth, the game's main antagonist.

One of the most popular characters of the game is Tifa Lockheart. Tifa is the owner of the 7th Heaven bar and a childhood friend of Cloud Strife, the main protagonist of the game. Tifa has been considered by many to be one of the hottest characters in video games, and subject to many cosplay treatments. Just check out today's cosplayer at the park.

DC Universe Powergirl Cosplay

Power Girl (real name Kara Zor-L, also known as Karen Starr) is a DC Comics superheroine, making her first appearance in All Star Comics #58 (January/February 1976).

Power Girl is the Earth-Two counterpart of Supergirl and the first cousin of Kal-L, Superman of the pre-Crisis Earth-Two. The infant Power Girl's parents enabled her to escape the destruction of Krypton. Although she left the planet at the same time that Superman did, her ship took much longer to reach Earth-Two.

Borderlands Mad Moxxie Cosplay

Borderlands is an action role-playing first-person shooter video game, that was developed by Gearbox Software for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.

Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot is the second piece of DLC for Borderlands. It features three new riot arenas and storage for players' items. The plot of the DLC is that Moxxi, a crazed lover who is setting out to find her 4th husband, has made the arenas for combat. Players fight several of the game's enemies, including bosses, in arenas.

Darkstalkers Morrigan Cosplay

Morrigan Aensland is a video game character from the Darkstalkers series of fighting games developed by Capcom. She was introduced in the 1994 game Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, and has since appeared in every game in the series, as well as in multiple video games outside the Darkstalkers franchise. Widely perceived as the most popular Darkstalkers character and one of Capcom's flagship characters, Morrigan is a succubus who is very vain and lives for little more than the excitement of battle.

As you can see from the images below after the jump, Morrigan also makes for a great cosplay character.

Rikku Cosplay - Jessica Nigri

Jessica Nigri is known in the video game cosplay world for her great renditions of costumes. She has already been featured on this site for her Lollipop Chainsaw and Pikachu cosplays. Today she has another great cosplay, this time as Rikku from Final Fantasy X. Rikku was already great in the video game... but this cosplay takes the fantasy somewhere beyond final. Very nice indeed.

Dead or Alive - Tina Armstrong Cosplay

Tina Armstrong is a character in the Dead of Alive series of video games. She is an American wrestling star who dreams of even greater fame. She first joins the Dead or Alive tournament, hoping that she can use it as a vehicle for becoming discovered as a supermodel, but her father Bass forbids it. In her subsequent entries into the Dead or Alive tournament, she changes interests, from wanting to be a model to wanting to become an actress and finally a rock star. These actions had further disappointed her already-disgraced father, who only wanted one goal for her. Tina enters New Zack Island in Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 to escape the clutches of her overprotective father. In the English versions of the games, she speaks with a thick Southern accent.

Today we have a random gathering of mostly unknown cosplayers dressed up as the green spandex Cammy from Street Fighter. All these cosplayers share the common hobby of dressing up in tight spandex and parading around at video game, comic book and anime expos. And we are sure glad that they do.
